Michael Fried

Michael Fried is a Mario Kart Player and a valuable contributor to the Mario Kart community. Since joining in 2003, he has competed in all 6 Karts, and has earned the title of best all-round karter. He is also one of the most active posters on the Mario Kart forum, as well as a frequent visitor to the Mario Kart IRC chatroom and a frequent chatter on AIM/MSN.

Strategy sharing

Michael is more than happy to prove his skills, and has posted hundreds of proof videos over the years. He also likes to help people improve their times, and has helped countless people by explaining strategies in detail and analyzing their videos to identify mistakes. Michael has gained a reputation as one of the most trustworthy karters, as well one of the best people to go to for strategy help.

Other Contributions

Michael has worked on various Kart-related projects, most notably wrvids.com, a massive collection of Mario Kart videos which he regularly updates. Michael has also uploaded all of the fastest videos to Youtube and organized them into playlists. Other projects that Michael has worked on include:

Mario Kart 64

Michael joined the MK64 site in April 2003. It was the first Kart that Michael competed in, and in his opinion, the game he is best at. He holds the Yoshi Valley flap world record (26.18). He is also the first person to land the Rainbow Road spiral shortcut on 3/3 laps, and to make things even more interesting, the first time he did it was with Bowser [1]. He is currently ranked #7 non-shortcut, #12 shortcut, and #4 universal.

Mario Kart: Double Dash!!

Michael joined the MKDD site a few weeks after the game's release. He peaked at #5, and at one time held the Mushroom City world records. Since then, he has fallen out of the top 100, and MKDD is now his worst Kart. There is a possibility of Michael returning to MKDD in the future, but only time will tell.

Super Mario Kart

Although SMK was the first Kart that Michael played, he did not join the SMK site until September 2005. A few months later he took a break from SMK, and then returned in 2007. He is currently ranked #21 NBT (NTSC) and #15 non-NBT (NTSC), and he holds 6 trick flap world records [2].

Mario Kart DS

Michael joined the MKDS site shortly after the game's release, immediately becoming world champion and completely dominating the game, at one time holding all 64 world records at once. He held the title for 99 days, until losing it to Miguel Rodriguez. A few months later he regained the title for 2 weeks, before losing it for good to Thomas Bolton. Since then, he has fallen out of the top 20. Michael also competed in Non-MT, where he still holds many world records, and in mission mode, where he used to hold many world records. He occasionally played wifi, but he was not very good at it.

Mario Kart Super Circuit

Michael joined the MKSC site in August 2006, shortly after MKSC was added to the combined MK rankings, in order to regain the #1 spot that he briefly lost to Sami Cetin. He is currently ranked #5. He used to hold several world records, but has lost all of them except for RBC3 flap (12.85). He has not yet modified his GBA SP, so he will most likely return to MKSC someday to try out ZZMTing.

Mario Kart Wii

Michael joined the site shortly after the North American release. Because Europe got the game first, Michael started out behind, but he worked hard to catch up with and eventually overtake his European rivals. He reached the #1 spot in July 2008, and is still going.

Outside of Mario Kart

Michael Fried's gaming is not limited to Mario Kart. His favorite video game series is The Legend of Zelda series. He also enjoys the Super Mario series and the Donkey Kong Country series, among others. In Donkey Kong Country he holds the Rambi bonus game world record (906), and in Donkey Kong Country 3 he holds the Riverside Race world record (53.20).

Outside of gaming, Michael enjoys watching movies. His favorite directors are Alfred Hitchcock, Billy Wilder, Christopher Nolan, and Hayao Miyazaki. He also occasionally juggles.
