This Maian pistol is a close analogue of the Falcon 2 - eight rounds, medium damage, limitless semi-automatic fire rate. However, the reload sequence (where the gun absorbs the clip, like with the other Maian weapons) is a bit slower. The Phoenix's secondary mode is an exploding shot - the fireball is about as big as your head and can kill multiple enemies with the "blast effect." The fire rate for the exploding rounds is significantly slower.
