World Record strat - 0:22 - Written by Bryan Bosshardt

This is the strat I used to get my beloved 22. I also recommend using it even if you are just going for a 23. 1.1 players must use Cruise Control for this mission for any chance at 22 and certainly an easier chance at 23.

Begin with both cinemas cut RIGHT AWAY so you can pick up the grenades easily in a left strafe. Also lookdown more than 45 degrees if you can. Make the next turn in a left strafe WITHOUT changing strafe. This is because it's a tenth or so faster than changing strafe, no joke. Half way down the chute begin to hold the grenade and release it looking ALL THE WAY DOWN once you have established a good line to the door. It should land near the door. Go back to the 45 degree lookdown, and open the door by briefly turning more to the left and proceed inside still in left strafe. Get the key, and change to a right strafe. This can sometimes not pick up if you looked too far down. This was a big problem for me when going for 22. Head out the door in right strafe, getting a boost from the nade you put there before the next turn ahead.

Line yourself up for the plane and look straight up still in right strafe. Hold a grenade for .5 to 1 second and release it straight up in the air. Don't hold C-down (1.1) or down on the stick (1.2) when making the throw. Immediately hold the next grenade until the first grenade is at its peak before falling back towards you and release. Throw a 3rd grenade about 88 degrees in the air (a little in front of you) about .5 to 1 second after the last, just like you did for the 1st grenade. You should get 2 or even 3 boosts while using a 45 degree lookdown. Sometimes grenades don't come out the way you want to and can even give you backboosts, side boosts, or no boosts at all. Also, some boosts are better quality than others. On my 22 I even got a guard boost before the 3rd grenade boost, making 4 for the stretch! That guard boost is most likely needed for 22, or a drone boost later near the plane. Repeat the process for the next 2 grenades, ignoring the one you'd throw 88 degrees. I got a drone boost instead of the 2nd grenade boost here.

Hopefully you have accumulated 5-7 boosts during the run to this point. Just start tapping B when you get near the plane and watch your 23 appear or just maybe the WR if you were a LUCKY sob!

World Record Strat - 0:23 - Written by Ryan White

This time was formerly believed to be impossible with the control style 1.1, and was thought to only be possible with the control style 1.2. A man by the name of Emile Broekhuizen disproved this however. If you are using 1.1, you must use Cruise Control.

Cut the cinemas and go right into left strafe picking up the grenades. Look down about 45 degrees, take out the grenades, and turn right down the slide still in right strafe. When you get halfway down the ramp, throw a grenade in the general direction of the door in hope of a boost later.

Sill in left strafe, you want to open to door and go in. You have to sort of flick the stick left for a split second while opening the door in order to get it open. Once in, run straight to the key, and then switch to right strafe to get out of there. Passing through the door, switch back to left strafe, which you will stay in until the end of the run. Hopefully the grenade you threw earlier will explode giving you a nice boost.

Now, you want to boost yourself with the grenades as you’re running down the runway. The easiest and most consistent way to do this is to look straight down at the ground, prime the grenade for about 4 seconds, and then let go. With practice, you should be able to get two of these done well, and that’s all you have time for.

Now look up. There’s no way to explain it, but only to practice where you start priming the grenade. Basically, you should see battery to the right, and you want to take that out. So hold the grenade, and let go after about 3 seconds or so. Now just start tapping B and praying to God that you’ll get a few more boosts and that thrown grenade will take out the battery. If all goes well, you should complete at least a 24. To get 23, you will need at least 1 or 2 more boosts from guards/drones in addition to those 3 self boosts you got earlier.

NEW!!! BATTERY DESTRUCTION STRAT BY #2 RANKED RUNWAY PLAYER JIMMY BAUER

What I did was use the yellow lines on the runway to know when to start holding the grenade. When you run next to a certain yellow line, the drone gun will start shooting at you. This is also the first line you will run next to when you can't see those white tanks or whatever in the distance. Anyway, start holding the grenade right before you get to that line. (Or like in between that line and the line before it.) Then aim up at the battery. Try to keep the battery halfway between the middle of the screen and the bottom. (I used a dot for this.) Then of course aim a little to the right. If you did that correctly, just wait until the drone gun hits you. The grenade should fly out of your hand and blow up the battery. If done correctly, this could work up to 90% of the time.

This is one of the most common of Goldeneye’s World Records, so for a lot of experienced gamers, it’s not out of the question. Good luck if you’re trying to score one of GE’s WRs!

World Record strat - 0:38 - Originally Written by Adam Moore, changed by Ryan White, again by Michael Kirkness

The current record has only been done with control style 1.2, and is arguably impossible with 1.1. If you are using 1.1, you will be trying for 39, and I will explain the difference later on.

Cut both cinemas and start strafing immediately over the grenades and down the ramp on your left. Stay in left strafe turning right here trying not to get stuck as you go through the hole. Switch to grenades here, and what you do is just before you open the door leading into the hut bounce a grenade off the door so it lands outside. Many things can go wrong with this but you will soon learn how to make it land in the right spot, and not disappear or land short.

Continue on in the hut, by opening the door still in left strafe, by sort of flicking the stick left while opening the door. Get in there and collect the key from the table. Then smoothly change strafes and come out of the hut in right strafe. The hut is where a lot of people lose time, and with this strat you need to be fast through there otherwise that grenade you bounced off the door can blow you to bits. If you are fast you should strafe just to the right of the grenade and it will give you slight damage but a great boost.

Now for the worst part of the level, “the bastard”. I lost my cool because of the guy about halfway between you and the tank. You have to hope for a good guard animation here and that he doesn’t boost you back but rolls or stuffs around until you are past him. There is no strat I can give you for beating this guy, just try at stay in a straight line with the far corner of the end of the building. Hopefully if you get past him, he will boost you once or even twice on your way to the tank. To make 38 easier, you can self boost here by looking 90 degrees at the ground and holding a grenade for 3.5ish seconds. Then let go, and it will hopefully boost you.

When you get to the corner of the building turn still in right strafe and head towards the tank trying to line yourself up with the back of the tank where you actually get in.

IMPORTANT!!! CONTROL STYLE VARIATION PART

With 1.1 - When you get into the tank spin all the way around and line yourself up with the runway, and with cruise you should not have the control stick pushed up bit just dead left, otherwise you will turn too slow.

With 1.2 – When you get in the tank, you want it to go backwards since that’s the fastest way to leave given the tank’s starting position. Basically, you want to hold C-down, C-left and the control stick left. After the tank backs up and the gun turns to meet, you want to stop turning, and take the best line from here down the runway.

For taking out the 3 drone guns and the missile battery there is 2 different strats. The first being to use the c buttons to maneuvre the top of the tank around while keeping the bottom of the tank pointed towards the plane. The second method is to turn the tank to point at all the targets. The second way can still yield a 39, but in order to get 38, you want to use the first one.

Basically you want to hold the line and not move the tank, only the gun of the tank. With 1.1, you use the C-buttons, and with 1.2, you use the stick. Anyhow, look to the left, and shoot the first drone with a missile. Then look right, and take out the battery. Look up and left, aiming over the far drone, and fire. Look back right and up, and fire to hopefully take out the final drone. If all goes well, they will be blowing up as you enter the plane.

Then line yourself up with the plane, preferably aim for the wing, so you get off the tank just before the wing, if not, slightly under it, then making sure you are away from the tank, so you hit b as you are falling and the mission will finish. Getting 0:40 is very easy, 39 will require some patience, and 38 usually will take three boosts, but with enough practice, you should start to fail your desired time with this strat. 38 IS possible with two boosts, but you need to be extremely fast in the hut and grabbing the key with absolutely no stucks, plus the best possible line to the corner of the building (this is difficult because of the guard that's USUALLY in the way).
