The crossbow is a clever stealth weapon used in Air Base. It holds five bolts and is mounted on the user's right wrist. The primary function is a drugged bolt that causes instant unconsciousness to the target, wherever it hits. In multiplayer, this effect is replaced with heavy dizziness similar to that caused by the Tranquilizer. The crossbow fires rapidly, but the aim is weird and buggy - sometimes the bolts go exactly where they should, but often they soar way over their targets. Reloading is on a bolt-for-bolt basis; reloading one is quick while reloading all five takes forever.

The secondary mode is a toxic arrow that causes instant death. Like with the Magnum LX and the Farsight, if the target is using a shield, the poison arrow will completely drain it but not kill the target, requiring a second shot.

General Tip A useful technique with this weapon is to hold R (or L) and the right (or left) C-button (yellow), then the character will run onto the same spot (like a immobile moonwalk). At the same time the aim of the target will move by millimeters so that when you shoot the arrows dont hit themselves but hit always the center of the target. Another technique of course is to be skilled with the shooting cadency, making it as near as possible from the cadency doable with the controller.
