Sam Hughes

Samuel Derek Hughes (born November 12, 1983) is one of this wiki's administrators, representing The Elite.

Hughes joined the Elite in July 2001 and played Perfect Dark continuously between then and his first retirement in early July 2002, just short of a year after joining, having peaked at rank 53rd in points and 51st in time. Never noteworthy for his skills, Hughes nevertheless rose to fame for penning Defection For Dummies, the first and most detailed guide for the famed Defection Glitch, as well as numerous other community-based contributions.

He spent several years playing PD extremely intermittently since then, devoting his attention to (approximately in order) Super Monkey Ball, AstroLander, Ikaruga, Sonic Mega Collection, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Half-Life 2 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - most of these on some sort of nominal competitive level. However, most of this time was spent in study at Cambridge University, culminating in a 2:1 in Mathematics he obtained in June 2005.

Hughes has recently picked up the controller again to play Perfect Dark in an attempt to get all his times under 4 minutes. He does not rate himself highly as a gamer but somehow just can't keep away from the game.
